New edition of Behind the Scenes now available

Ukraine

Like so many people we watch with dismay and heartache the events taking place in Ukraine. PRIME has many friends and colleagues in various parts of that country - some we have been in contact with others not. The President of the ChMA (CMF Ukraine) writes: “I am writing to you in need. In the light of recent military events, we as a Christian Medical Association want to be useful to the people. We should, even in difficult times, demonstrate Christian values and faith. That is why we need your support now, when we are actively preparing for the most difficult scenario, buying the necessary medicines, conducting ongoing training in emergency care and teaching doctors how to act in military conditions. We have compiled a list of necessary medications. If you have an opportunity to help us in this way - sending some medications - or financially, it would be very, very helpful.” Donate today via the ICMDA Ukraine Appeal

New Online Teaching Teams Launched

Many of our programme teams are beginning to make plans for a return to face-to-face teaching in Central Asia, Nepal, Uganda, UK - while some continue online, Australia, Mozambique. Meanwhile, we are also developing new inter-professional “Teaching Teams” in various subject areas, that we hope will help us respond and expand our teaching programmes as the world emerges to some extent from the Covid Pandemic.

There are six topic-based teams which represent our core teaching.

  1. Compassion Without Burnout
  2. Mental Health
  3. Palliative Care
  4. Whole Person Care & Communication Skills
  5. Values Added
  6. Global Health Elective

Each Online Teaching Team will have several functions:

  • To support the new online world order enabling us to offer teaching events more widely not just via existing contacts, but also via our link with ICMDA, NCFI etc
  • To build and grow teams who get to know and support each other, working to each other's strengths to deliver a truely interactive values-based experience which touches the spirit not just the mind
  • To provide a secure base for new tutors, who are encouraged and mentored not only to develop their teaching skills, but also experience the love and support of the PRIME family.

As time goes by each team will adapt existing teaching materials and develop new ones. These can then be fed into the new PRIME Hub resource website for more general use, with appropriate oversight to maintain quality.
