Chair’s Introduction

For two-thirds of this historic year PRIME continued its steady progress, very similar to the many years past that have seen such blessing and fruitfulness. The sense of steadiness and quiet achievement was as before, as can be discovered in the country reports from so many parts of the world.

The Global Conference was a watershed. The gathering of nearly one hundred friends from 17 nations was as rich as ever, both in its teaching and the richness of the shared vision and friendship within the family of PRIME.

During the planning we had felt that it would be wise to hold the conference a fortnight earlier than usual: in March we understood why! Our gathering was the last one before the UK government introduced a national lockdown.

Everything changed for everyone, not only in UK. All PRIME activity stopped and the office closed. The pandemic forced a gradual complete rethink of the whole concept of the way that we have been expressing our calling to share the message of professional Whole Person Care modelled on Jesus. That rethink has continued over several months and we await the emergence of the future pattern for our work.

In spite of the trauma of Covid-19, the sense of loyalty, respect and commitment within the PRIME community has been as rich as ever. The open expression of our Christian faith and calling is rich and vibrant. Therein is the strength of the charity. A house that is built on a rock holds firm during the storm.
